Tuscany Heights Elementary
December 15, 2013

Parents,

SIGN UP, SIGN UP, SIGN UP…

In an effort to be more efficient and get information out to you as quickly as possible including simple reminders, I would like to invite you to be part of my Remind 101 Parent Team.  This is an “app” that allows me to send a quick message out to all subscribers.  For example: Winter Parties; No School Dec. 23rd- Jan. 5th, etc.  Just examples that I find myself wanting to share in the afternoons as a reminder from the weekly eBlast.  If you are interested in receiving this message, you can subscribe using the link below. It can be set up to come as a text, an email, or both.  I look forward to strengthening our communication!

**This year I'm using Remind101, a safe app that allows me to send text and email updates about important school information.  To sign up to get messages about Tuscany Heights Ele Parents, click here.

A GLOW for our Choir Students and Mrs. Neibel and Mrs. Rivera:

I received this email from a man that was staying/meeting a group of colleagues at the JW Marriott Thursday night while our choir, Tiger Beat, performed. It is so nice to know that others that come in contact with our staff and students are inspired, because of the wonderful attributes they possess.

“Dear Ms. Neibel,

My colleague and I are attending the Zero to Three National Training Institute at the JW Marriott in San Antonio. We happened to be meeting with another colleague in the lobby area yesterday evening when your family members from your choir began arriving for the show. Because we were seated nearby we decided to stay to enjoy the performance. I must say we were so impressed with your students! What a delightful show. The students are quite obviously motivated to perform well and more importantly seemed to be having fun. That is only possible under your ability to engage and excite them about music. Your energy and enthusiasm along with high expectations reminded me of my own high school music experience with a director/teacher who had the same love of music and taught us the value and delight of a group performance. What I learned from that experience continues to inform my work today. What you have achieved with your students is quite special and will be a lifelong, invaluable gift to them.

Thank you for sharing your passion yesterday. And please tell your students how much the travelers from Indiana enjoyed their performance. It totally inspired me during this holiday season.

Wishing you all the best!

Steve”

Thank you,
Tara Bailey

Parents,

Please see the letter below. Thanks to parents and cluster administration this has been brought to my attention and I wanted to share the information with you.

December 5, 2013

Dear Tuscany Heights Parents/Guardians:

This letter is to inform you of an alleged incident that occurred in the vicinity of the Lopez Middle Schoolcampus December 3, 2013. I was alerted to this incident yesterday afternoon by a parent and I understand it was also covered on the local evening news.  Although this did not happen in our attendance area, I felt it prudent to share this with you, as we are all part of the greater Stone Oak area. I want to make sure you have accurate information and dispel any rumors you may hear.

A Lopez student was walking in the Summit subdivision before school. The student stated that while walking, a dark green or black van appeared and a gentleman, wearing a mask, tried to get the student into the van. The family has contacted the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD). According to the student’s description, the man and the driver of the van were both males wearing masks.

Our North East Police Department (NEPD) officers are investigating the situation along with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

I want you to have this information in order to help better protect your family. Please take this time to talk with your child about stranger danger. It may be helpful for you to review the safety rules below with your child.

  • Stay with a group and walk in pairs when walking to and from home.
  • Never walk alone.
  • If approached by a stranger, walk away and tell an adult.
  • If walking home and you have a problem, come back to school and we will call your parents. Make sure that Mom or Dad knows the route that you take home and have a plan with Mom or Dad if you have a problem while walking home.
  • Know where to go for help.
  • Report any suspicious people or activities to a trusted adult.
  • If your child has a cell phone, instruct them on whom to call for help.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school at 407-8200.

Sincerely,

Tara Bailey, Principal
