Updated Information for Tuscany Tigers

2/27/2014

Dear Tuscany Tigers,
I apologize... wrong draft was sent yesterday...please read updated information.

PLEASE JOIN US AT THE ‘HEB PRIMO NIGHT’ TASTE TESTING AND PRODUCT GIVE AWAY TONIGHT (February 27) and HELP US RAISE FUNDS FOR TUSCANY HEIGHTS

(SEE ATTACHED EMAIL)

THE FIRST 100 PEOPLE THAT GO THROUGH THE TASTE STATIONS RECEIVE REALLY NICE SAMPLE GOODIES...JOIN THE FUN AND SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL IN ‘ONE STOP SHOPPING’…HEB AT 281 AND TPC...See you there!

I am sending this e-blast to ask for your help with the safety of our students and staff. I know that the traffic is very heavy, and that the wait is long many times, when dropping off, and picking up your students. However, we have instituted procedures to keep everyone safe, and we need your help in following these guidelines.

When entering the campus from the front entrance, please watch carefully for students and staff in the crosswalk and on the sidewalk. We have safety certified staff that work very hard to keep the line moving and assist our students when crossing the street. Please follow their directions and turn only from the proper lane into the campus. Also, please be aware of students crossing the street.

Parents…In the mornings please utilize our front car lane when dropping off your students. We have some buses that are not arriving until 7:30 am. Recently we have had some cars pulling in front of the buses. This puts our students and staff at risk of being accidently hit by a car.

Thank you for helping us keep Tuscany Heights safe!!

A Reminder:

Student changes in transportation, the way they are going home, must be in writing (note, email, or fax) and must reach the office not later than 2:00 pm. This is for the safety of all students, and will allow us to get a message to the student. If you email the teachers directly, please make sure that you have received a response. Many of the teachers check messages after students are dismissed, and we do not want your student to miss the information concerning a change in transportation.

Important Information
With recent accidents in our NEISD area, I would like to call your attention to the school zone as well as the areas just behind our school. We have many walkers that travel to/from school. Please be mindful of your speed, use of cell phones (cell phones prohibited in the school zone when light is flashing), and the cross streets. We have crosswalks within our school zone; however, there are some areas our students cross just behind the school zone I wish to ask for you to take extreme caution. For example, corner of Mountain Lodge and Wilderness. We have many students that cross Mountain Lodge to continue along the sidewalk to access their neighbors from Wilderness Oak side, so please be mindful of this intersection and our students. We will discuss walker safety with them, but want to reach out to our parents to help as well! Thank you for taking good care of your children, our students, and our community children.

Tuscany Heights Elementary

February 9, 2014

Parents,

I will be saying goodbye to the students, staff, and families this week in order to welcome our newest family member, Kynleigh. As much as I look forward to this time, I do know that I will miss my other 880+ children/students. They are in great hands and learning many new things as well as exploring concepts to a greater depth. While I am out, I encourage you to reach out to my staff, your child’s teacher with any concerns you may have, and the office/admin team as well.

Dr. Bobbie Turnbo will begin as the T.H.E. Principal Substitute on February 12, 2014. She is excited to be here with us and we are truly appreciative that we get to have her here. She comes with much experience and expertise! I will be out for around 8 weeks. I plan to return in April in time for our students to show all their knowledge on the state STAAR assessments. I am already so proud of all of them!

You can reach Dr. Turnbo at 210-407-8200 or b-turnb@neisd.net while I am out of the office.

Thank you,
Tara Bailey

T.H.E. Volunteer Opportunity
Hey Tigers! We have a great opportunity for you to earn volunteer hours while helping out T.H.E. As you know, our annual PTA Run for the Heights is on Saturday, February 22, 2014! We want to be sure our campus looks beautiful for everyone who comes out. On Saturday, February 15 from 10am to 12pm we will have a campus clean up. Our goal is to pick up litter, pull weeds, and to plant flowers and decorate the campus. Light refreshments and trash bags will be provided. It would be helpful for those participating to bring their own gloves and gardening tools. We ask that parents plan to stay as we will not be able to closely watch the students as they spread out around the campus. See you there!

NEISD Dismisses on Regualr Schedule, 2:40pm

2/7/2014

Parents,

I do believe that the rumor has gotten out that NEISD may dismiss early due to the weather outside. We just received notifciation from the district that NEISD will dismiss at our normal time today, 2:40 pm. Area schools (NISD) are dismissing early due to a scheduled early release day like we have planned for late February. Please know that we are taking good care of your children and keeping them indoors for recess and dismissal today. If you are coming to the school, please be very cautious as you drive on our driveway, parking areas, or walk on the sidewalks and entry ways. We do have ice, but we have added some salt/gravel mix to try to help avoid having anyone fall.

Thank you and be safe if you get out and about!

Parents,

Please take a moment to sign up for my Remind 101 if you ahven't already. I use this message app to send a quick message out to families regarding reminders and/or changes. I will use this on bad weather days as well. Also, please pay close attention to the NEISD webpage as well as local news and radio stations to alert us about tomorrow's weather and if there will be any school closures. As it stands right now, school is in session.
I'm using Remind101, a safe app that allows me to send text and email updates about important school information. To sign up to get messages about Tuscany Heights Ele Parents, click here.

On another note, parents please see the information below...
The 2012-13 School Report Card (SRC) for our campus is now available.

The Department of Curriculum Compliance will provide a letter to go home with students and a printed message on the 6th week progress report that will have the district webpage link for parents to access the school report cards. The Department of Research and Information Technologies has updated the webpage stating that:

"Parents can access their child's School Report Card by clicking on a campus in the list below or requesting a copy from an administrator at their student's campus. Parents can also access the School Report Cards by visiting the North East ISD Central Office lobby at 8961 Tesoro Drive San Antonio, TX 78217. "

The School Report Card – As required by statute §61.1021 :
You can access the School Report Cards on the Texas Education Agency’s website athttp://ritter.tea.state.tx.us/perfreport/src/2013/campus.srch.html or the district's webpage:http://www.neisd.net/neisdinfo/SRC_2012_2013.html

Stay safe and warm with the wintry mix over the next few days!

Thank you,
Tara Bailey
