Parents and Students,

Holiday on Monday, May 25th- No School

We have a NEW sign! Many of you may have noticed a new sign that we ordered to help remind all of us about the tardy times, 7:50-9:15am. If you are dropping off during that time, we ask that you escort your child in as you would any time after 9:30am. They need to be checked in through the office. We will start posting it this school year and consistently into next school year. Also, we have one ordered for the back parking lot as well as two signs stating “No Cell Phones”. These are simple reminders for the safety of our students. Thank you for supporting your child’s school! Thank you to our Campus Improvement Committee (staff, parents, district, and community representatives) that help promote these ideas and support our school as well.

Thank you,

Tara Bailey

Tuscany Heights registered as an official baker for the “Sweets and Treats” campaign on the1st National Animal Therapy Day--May 18, 2015.  Tuscany Heights Elementary has a visiting therapy team—Aileen Holeman and Prince, a 4 year old Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix. All students and staff were invited to wear something with their favorite animal on it. Students volunteered to bake homemade dog and cat treats to pass out to the Kindergarten through 5th grade students and staff. The dog and cat treats were available for a donation to our “dog donation” jar! The treats were a big hit, and the group raised $100 that will be sent to “Pet Partners”, the national organization that trains and registers therapy animal teams. Thank you to all our families who baked, passed out treats, and donated to our cause!! T.H.E. is a great place to beJ

Parents and Students,

Please take a look at the calendar as a few dates have changed. Just a few reminders as we wrap up the 2014-2015 school:

Please help keep our students safe during arrival and drop off time because this is the time of day when we have the most movement with our students and with vehicles. We appreciate your help looking out for them!

If you would like to share your thoughts about your child’s placement, please remember to use the forms that went out this past week. I do ask that you not burden our teachers with the pressure of trying to give a specific teacher to your child because we have so many other factors to consider: Student programming, student-teacher characteristics, staff changes, etc. Thank you for taking time to use the form to support your feelings. We will take our time in making final decisions but now is a great time to give feedback.

As always, we love that you share your students with us and have loved watching them grow this year!

Thank you,

Tara Bailey

Student Placement Input Form

5/12/2015

Parents,

This is the time of the year that we start looking ahead to make tentative placement decisions for classes next school year. I rely heavily on my staff to make academic decisions in the best interest of students as well as considering any special programs in place: GT, Special Education, 504, ESL, etc. We also like to hear your perspective as parents about what teacher characteristics you see working best for your child as well as giving you a chance to tell us a little more about your child's specific characteristics. I personally review these lists when discussing final placement decisions. It is impossible for us to honor a specific teacher request from all of our parents, so we ask that you not name a teacher on your forms. We also ask that you use the form as your avenue to let us know what you would like to see and not burden our current teachers with trying to balance what everyone wants. This is an important time and we do not make any student placements without careful thought and hearing from all staff and parents regarding each individual child. Thank you for understanding that none of the decisions are final until August.

Thank you,
Tara Bailey
