If you see our flags flying half staff, please know that we were just given notice from the City of San Antonio to make adjustments in honor of "Reitred Speaker of the House Tom Foley".  He passed away on October 18, 2013.

Parents,

Thank you for a great Red Ribbon Week!!!!  We are so lucky to have a great PTA and Community!  Thank you to Mrs. Ulestad and Mrs. Lombardi for all your efforts to create stronger BULLY AVENGERS here at Tuscany!

If you or a close family member to one of our students is a "VETERAN”, we would like to take the time to recognize them on November 11th.  We are inviting our veterans to join us at Tuscany Heights Elementary at 8:30a.m. for a small service ceremony.  We will have all students present and ask all veterans to be seated on the stage.  From there, their students will introduce them; we will hear a special message from each grade level, and then closing remarks from administration.  We will serve Hash browns for Heroes in the library following the ceremony.  We ask all veterans and their students to join us there for a final "thank you" gesture for all the service you have provided for our country to honor us!

Please RSVP with the front office if you will be a veteran attending or a member of the family will be a veteran attending.  Mrs. Jordan, 
djorda1@neisd.net , will keep a list of all veterans in order for us to best prepare for food and gifts.

Tusky's Treats for Troops: We are collecting trick or treat candy for our troops. Drop off any candy (no chocolate, please!) or a homemade card in the collection bins by the front entry until Nov. 8. Donations will be coordinated through the Hugs for Heroes Organization, www.hugsforheroes.com. Let's synergize Tigers and sweeten the day for our soldiers! Let's Get Ready to Move it, Move it! T.H.E. PTA Presents….Field Day, Friday, 11/1:  Tuscany's annual Field Day will be November 1st from 7:45 AM-2:25 PM, and we need your help. Please sign up to volunteer on PTO Manager  or contact our Field Day chair, Gina Roth, fieldday@tuscanyheightspta.org, to volunteer. We will be providing lunch for all of our volunteers. Thanks for making this a fun and active day for our kids!

Red Ribbon: Bike Rodeo Thank You

Thank you to are fabulous volunteers and Mrs. Leigh Ellis that coordinated this event!  It was a great success!!!  It is always incredible how many moms and dads volunteer to make any event here at Tuscany Heights an eventful one.  Thank you to an amazing PTA!  We had a great week with our students thanks to the Red Ribbon planning done by Mrs. Ulestad and Mrs. Lombardi.  Thank you to all of you for your dedication to our school. 

I appreciate each of you that took part in making Red Ribbon Week a success for our staff and students!

Bike Rodeo Reminder

T. H.E. PTA Presents…Bike Rodeo, tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 25, starting at 8 AM. We will start with Kindergarten and work up to 5th grade. We hope to end around 11:30 AM.

Here are a few reminders:
  • Bike drop-off will be today, 10/24, 4-6 PM and 10/25, 7-7:45 AM. Drop off at Gym #1 in the back of the school.
  • All bikes MUST be picked up by Friday afternoon.
  • Label bikes and helmets with your child's name/grade/teacher.
  • Bike Rodeo spectators need to park in visitor parking and check in through the front office.

I want to call attention to an opportunity our high schools are offering us!

November 1st Reagan Cluster Football Game is honoring their cluster schools. They have invited us to join them by filling the stands for a game. We’d love to see you there! We are hoping to represent Reagan that night wearing our orange spirit shirt ( another THE Shirt) and rounding up Tusky to run out on the field. Please join us!

We are calling all future Rattlers or Jags to participate in various games throughout the season. Each HS has given a few tickets for games throughout the year. So, let us know if you are interested in a game. We will give away tickets until they run out! Thanks to our high school administration for such a kind treat! Go Rattlers and Jags!!!

Cake Donations needed for our Sister School, East Terrell Hills, on Oct. 25th:  We are in need of Cake Donations for our Sister School, East Terrell Hills. They are hosting a Fall Festival on October 25th. They will have a cake walk and will be giving away the baked goods to those who participate. FUN! You can drop off baked goods or store bought goods at the front office by 2 PM on Friday, Oct. 25th.

Parents,

On November 1st, Reagan will be honoring their cluster schools by inviting them to their Friday night football game. We'd love to have you come out and show Tiger/Rattler Pride. It was in Sunday's eBlast, but I have info regarding tickets. Please see below if you are interested in attending the game. We are asking all tigers to show spirit by wearing their orange T.H.E. spirit shirts or any Tuscany spirit shirt! We want to stand out!!!!!

Ticket sales 11:30-2:15 Thursdays and Fridays at Reagan  
Adults $ 7.00Students $ 3.00
Reserved $ 8.00

Sales also occur at:
Lopez MS and Bush MS every day during office hours.

Everybody will be charged $8.00 at gate unless you are a student with an ID, that would be a $3.00 ticket.

This week seemed to fly by! I can’t believe how close we are to the end of the first nine weeks grading period, but we’ve had a great 7 weeks of school!

Please take a moment to review the calendar below. We have benchmark assessments for STAAR grade levels this week. We will take extra precautions to prepare a quiet testing environment for our students.

Also, I want to call attention to an opportunity our high schools are offering us!

Believe, Dream, & Inspire -Texas PTA 2013 Reflections Art Contest entries due by Oct. 16th: Tuscany Heights would be honored to have our students interested in creating drawings, paintings, stories and other forms of art enter the 2013 Reflections Art Contest.  Entry forms and rules are available in the school library and can also be found online by clicking here. Entries should be submitted in the Reflections box in the school library between October 1st and October 16th.  All participants will receive a spirit stick and winners will move on to the NEISD Council for judging.  Please contact Megan Ehrle at ehrles@yahoo.com with questions.

Dads, uncles, granddads, step-dads: There are many available days this school year for T.H.E. fathers to serve as a Watch DOG.  If you have not been a Watch DOG yet, now is the time to sign up! If you served as a Watch DOG last year, please consider returning for another day!  To view available days,  click here. Contact the Watch D.O.G.S. coordinators at watchdogs@tuscanyheightspta.org to request information on how to sign up for your day of service. You will be able to view a presentation about the program, ask questions, order your official Watch D.O.G.S. t-shirt, then allow you to register and pick your day to be the "Hero of the Hallway." Please note that for the safety of our children and staff, you must complete the NEISD Criminal Background Check (a.k.a. Thank you for your support this week with our book fair! It was great to see so many families participate in supporting our school while promoting a love for reading. We appreciate all of the great volunteers that took time to be here to help us, thank you!

We would also like to say thank you for a great 4th grade PTA Performance this past week. It was great cheering for our school alongside of our 4th graders!

Helpful Information

Transforming  the Future of NEISD - Dr. Gottardy is encouraging us to provide feedback to the district regarding transformation. Please take a moment to give your thoughts to our district. The survey is online until October 10th. He hopes to reach 2,500 responses. Thank you for helping us “TRANSFORM” our classrooms. The link is below:

Clinic Reminders - Students are not allowed to carry medication to or from school; nor are the students to have it on them while at school, including cough drops. If your child needs any medication, please stop by the clinic to ensure the proper steps are taken.
Please notify the clinic if your child is diagnosed with a contagious illness like strep throat, etc.

Congrats to our Box Tops Class Winners: These classes win a kickball game with Mrs. Bailey and Mr. Rafajko on Oct. 18th! K- Cervenka; 1st-Schmid; 2nd-Branch; 3rd-Kramer; 4th-Forsyth; and 5th-Blackler. Thank you all for your donations-we earned $2,400 for our school!

Last chance to Eat for a Cause at Orderup and support Tuscany Heights! Join other Tuscany families at Orderup in the Stone Ridge shopping center (281/Evans) and eat for a cause tonight,  Sunday, Oct. 6th. Ask for your receipt, write "Tuscany Heights" on the back and drop it in the collections box. Orderup will donate 20% of your purchase back to the school!

Parents,

Thank you for a great PTA/4th Grade Performance last night!

My apologies for multiple emails during the week, but I just received these and want to keep you informed. Bush MS has an update with their flyer sent yesterday (more activities) as well as a new flyer regarding SAturday Nite Live at Las Lomas (different than the Hardy Oak event). See attachments for more information. 

Also, our book fair is running through the end of this week. It will be open tonight until 6pm! Thank you for supporting our love for reading!!!

Reminder about this Friday-- We will have a visitor from SA Express News. The visitor will be looking at the wellness efforts we are making on campus: Academic Motor Lab, Healthy Choices (lunches, birthday treats), etc. Help us show off our great attempts this Friday with HEALTHY LUNCHES School Wide!
