The Ronald McDonald Houses of San Antonio have been providing a “home away from home” since 1985. These families travel to the San Antonio medical community to receive treatment for their sick children, most with cancer. San Antonio is one of a handful of cities that operates 3 Ronald McDonald Houses. They also have 2 rooms for families in the Laredo Hospital. These homes are open and staffed 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, and open 365 days a year. Patients must be 21 years or younger and accompanied by an adult. They must live 60 miles or more from San Antonio. They must be referred by a doctor. These homes not only provide a place to sleep, relax, eat, shower and play, but they receive support from other families. Often these families are all experiencing the same emotional heartache. These homes are truly houses that “LOVE” built. Can you imagine having to leave your home, family, friends and school to travel for medical treatment for as much as a year at a time? These children need our support when they come to our city! Your quarter or $1.00 will say we are here for you! Let’s Share our Tuscany Hearts! We will be collecting donations February 8th - 19th! Bring a quarter to get a heart for your classroom door! We will have members of Junior Lighthouse and Student Mediators collecting during morning drop off! Please join us in sharing our Tuscany Hearts! Share your THE heart, Student Leaders Reagan High School’s production of Rodger’s & Hammerstein’s newly revised Cinderella is opening this week.
