Thank you for a fantastic February! We are fast approaching spring break and the last grading period of this school year. We are grateful to you for sharing your children with us. We love watching them grow, learn, and become leaders.
A special thank you to our PTA Members, Volunteers, and Staff for making this past Saturday a great success, Run for the Heights. Although the weather attempted to put a damper on things, we still had a grand turn out and a healthy run. Thank you for everyone that supported our school and to all those that put in even a minute of your time. Mrs. Bissen and Mrs. Harris, JOB WELL DONE!
Safety Request- Please do not drop your children off in the middle of the parking lot and expect them to get to the crosswalk alone. This creates a safety concern for our students because cars are parking and backing out. We ask that you walk them to the crosswalk in the front of the school and safety patrol as well as staff can ensure they cross safely and in the back of the school, we ask that you walk them safely across while our crossing guard directs the traffic to stop. We do not want anyone involved in an accident. Please think of our students! A diagram is attached to show the various safety expectations for drop off. Thank you in advance!

Nurse Notes
Continue to practice good hygiene techniques and hand washing. The Flu, as well as other illness, is still hanging around. Protecting yourself is the same for exposures. Remember “COUGH OR SNEEZE, ELBOW PLEASE”.
March 6th, we will sponsor Dr. Mari-Ellen Torres of Kids World Dentistry. She will do a visual screening of 3rd grade students and you will receive the results of her screen from our clinic. Remind our students to practice good dental hygiene and lets all:
“Brush two minutes, two times a day.
Clean between your teeth daily.
Limit snacks, eat healthy snacks.
Visit your dentist regularly.”

NEISD Used Book Sale Donation Drive
The NEISD Used Book Sale is coming up the weekend of April 10th - 12th. Tuscany Heights PTA will be collecting books throughout the month of March (which also happens to be the month that Dr. Seuss was born back in 1904!). Every child who donates will be given a Dr. Seuss spirit stick. The top 20 donators in the school will be given a gift certificate to the Scholastic Book Fair in May. If we can reach a school-wide participation goal of 25%, Mrs. Bailey and Mrs. McCurry have agreed to spend a day dressed as Thing 1 and Thing 2. So help us reach our goals, and clean off those bookshelves! Watch for a flyer to come home with your child with the details.
Driving Education to the Top Award – Kidsville News
It is that time of the year when we are looking for teacher nominations for the Driving Education To The Top Award sponsored by Alamo Toyota. The first place teacher will receive a field trip for his or her class and $1,000 for the teacher. The more creative one gets or the more we hear about a teacher from students and parents, to even nominations from Principals, the more of an impact it makes for a teacher to stand out. Kidsville News will be recognizing an additional 5 teachers who will receive a plaque, recognition in Kidsville News and some wonderful gifts. This is the third year of this great teacher recognition program. The deadline is March 31. See attached form for nominations that can be passed on. - Gina Barbera, Kidsville News
