Parents,

After the first week of school, I promise not to fill your emails with eBlasts from T.H.E. You will receive one a week on Sunday nights for the upcoming week. In the meantime, we are trying to communicate a few important events and reminders as the school year starts.

T.H.E. Updates

Parents,

Thank you for your continuous support through emails, texts, thumbs up, etc for the staff efforts here at Tuscany Heights! We want our students safe and you have gone above and beyond to understand our position, thank you!

We finished car rider in 20 minutes today! When we started this new procedure, my goal was 3:00pm and my staff, parents, and students made it happen the third day of school. Thank you!

On another note, we will begin RAPTOR BADGES for ALL VISITORS tomorrow. If you wish to walk your child to the rotunda doors, we will have safety patrol and staff all along the hallways to help guide our new tigers to their classrooms. If you wish to be the one to walk them to their classroom, you will need to go through the front office and have your ID scanned or show ID if you are already in the system. We are now preparing for our instructional year to start settling in for the staff and students.

VISITOR PARKING LOTS: Front lot passed the flag poles and the back parking lot if needed

Sept. 7th is Grandparent's Day
7:45-8:45 2nd, 3rd, and 5th
8:45-9:45 Kinder, 1st, and 4th
We are asking that grandparents swing by if close to the school to get pre-registered for the event. If you do not live in town, we will handle RAPTOR and/or sign in sheets on the special event day. We WELCOME ALL GRANDPARENTS!

As always, we appreciate your support!

Thank you,
Tara Bailey

Our Appreciation

Thank you again for your support with the new dismissal procedures! We are continuing to work together to ensure that we meet the 3:00 completion time as we have in the past! :-) We narrowed the time down from 50 minutes to 35 minutes today even having more cars, so I appreicate all of you for making this as smooth as it has been.
I know that it is hot, but waitng in your car is much cooler! Also, knowing your child is safe is a priority!

You may have noticed NEPD and NEISD district safety staff present on campus. You will be pleased to know that they are working alongside our administration, since May, to help us make things as safe as possible.

A few helpful tips for tomorrow:

  • PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE the color and number with your children! Many of them do not make it to the cones, because they are not looking at their numbers. This is a new process for them, so help us teach them!
  • Talk to your older children (siblings) and have them find their little brothers/sisters as soon as they come outside (They sit by color.). We will do the same!
  • As Officer Carnato shared with many car rider parents, we will take turns entering the Tuscany Heights car rider line. Officer Carnato stated that we are to allow 5 cars from the Summerglen direction and then 5 cars from the turn lane coming from Mountain Lodge. We will continue this process throughout the year (5 cars from each area then alternate). This is being as fair as possible given we have a steady flow of traffic from both areas.
  • We will use 10 cones tomorrow instead of 12 to help the loading process. Fewer cones should keep our cars moving steadily rather than some loading faster and others still waiting.
  • While in the car rider line, please DO NOT pull out of line once you are loaded. This causes all cars to fall out of order and your children are already waiting on you at the cone. Stay in line and by doing so, the children will be waiting on you at the accurate cone when you pull forward. The cars that pull out of line cause the other cars, students, and cones NOT to match up. This slows down the process. Thank you for your patience.
  • If you feel that you are waiting too long in the line, come earlier or wait until closer to 3:00 to join the car rider line. This will help with the faster loading time for you!
Again, thank you for your patience and know that we love our students and wish for a safe dismissal for all!
Thank you,
Tara Bailey

First Day

8/27/2012

Thank you for a great day with your children!
The first day is always very exciting and scary for most. Here at school we are thrilled to meet each and every family, but also nervous about being sure our students return to you safely.
My staff did a great job!

Be sure to review the beginning of the year information that comes today. Return all signature pages this week!

Just a few reflections as we move forward with the year and our new car rider process...

CAR RIDER
We appreciate our families using the car rider line. At first, it will not be a fast process as we are working through all the details with staff, students, and parents; however, we know it is the safest. So, thank you for utilizing the car rider line!
We will have a police officer here tomorrow to assist with the traffic at the traffic light.
Please remember to take turns with the traffic coming from both directions!
Our car rider staff met after school today to debrief and we are prepared for tomorrow.
Parents need to watch for the staff to direct the flow of traffic. Do not pull out of the line so that we can keep a steady flow of 12 cars at a time.
All students will be seated by color instead of grade level. Talk to your child(ren) and ensure that your oldest siblings know to find their little brothers/sisters when preparing for dismissal out front. My staff will help them. Also, talk to your child(ren) about their color and number. It helps if they know it when we call for them in the afternoon. We will be ready for tomorrow! I can't say enough, THANK YOU, for helping keep our students SAFE.

PARENT PARK-N-PICK-UP
If you parked in the back for pick-up, this is not the most convenient means of obtaining your child or the coolest (because it is too hot). Therefore, we recommend you use the car rider line, bus, daycare, KINS, walker, or biker as a dismissal procedure for your child(ren). I have arranged for staff to assist you.
Since we are doing more with less, we have two people at the rotunda door and one office staff member that can help. A line will be formed to verify you are the parent/guardian of the child if you failed to bring the car rider tag matching the student.
I do ask that you TRY our car rider line, because it will be much cooler and faster in the long run.
We would love to put your child(ren) in your air conditioned vehicle when you pull up, so please give it a try!

Again, thank you for a GREAT first day!

Thank you,
Tara Bailey

CAR RIDERS ONLY- Car Rider Tags Needed for Dismissal

8/27/2012

Parents,

If your child will be a car rider today or any day this school year, you will be asked to display a colored & numbered tag in your vehicle window. We will match the tag with your child's backpack tag.

If you have your tag already from Meet the Teacher, that is great! Please display it today so that you can drive through and pick up your child(ren).

If you NEED a car tag, please stop by today before dismissal to ensure you have the necessary tag to pick up your child and that we have a tag for your child's backpack. We have many students without tags today. We want to be proactive for dismissal and get everyone taken care of before the end of the day.

If you do not have a tag, you will be asked to park and come inside the building to verify you are the parent as well as get a tag for the future.

Thank you for your cooperation as we work diligently to ensure student safety!

Thank you,
Tara Bailey
