It was a great day at T.H.E.! Our 3rd and 4th graders worked very hard on STAAR today and we are ready for tomorrow.
On a safety note, please take a moment to read the local news reports regarding the recent "threat". They have reported that the threats are not credible. I have posted one link below:

However, we are still taking this very serious and have our procedures in place at T.H.E. Please find the precautions below that we are taking over the next few days and know that we will continue to be on high alert given the recent "threat".
Staff continues to review all of our procedures and answer student questions in regards to procedures. We are encouraging them that school is a safe place yet also being transparent that we always need to be cautious of our surroundings. NEISD is supporting our campuses by providing an NEPD Officer to us and one other school on Thursday. Each officer is responsible for two campuses. He/She will patrol both campuses as well as enter the building to provide visiblity and security. These officers are being pulled from their usual duties on Thursday which may impact traffic concerns, but the Chief of Police has assured us the safety at our campuses is most important.
Also, Suzanne and Doug Opersteny have arranged for several WatchDOGS (DADS) to help us out over the next two days. Starting tomorrow, we have two WatchDOGS that will patrol the exterior perimeter of the building and parking lot to provide security. Since it is a closed campus for STAAR, they will remain outdoors. On Thursday, we have a larger group (around 8 WatchDOGS) serving our campus. They will be indoors and outdoors throughout the day helping maintain safety for our campus. We are very appreciative of our dads, this program, and the PTA Chairpersons (Mr. and Mrs. Opersteny) for making this possible!
I want to remind parents that do drop off their children early (prior to 7:15a.m.) to please remember that staff members are not on duty until 7:15a.m. I do have one assistant that comes in at 7:00 a.m. to monitor early arrivers in the rotunda if you must drop off prior. Therefore, please know that prior to 7:15 a.m. may not ensure that your child has supervision. With the recent threat, I am concerned about their safety. Thank you for your diligence with this manner.
We are taking this threat seriously and doing everything we can to ensure our students are safe while in our care. Thank you for trusting us with your children and know that we love them too!
Thank you,
Tara Bailey
