The American Heart Association came to our school today to kick-off this year’s Jump Rope For Heart program!
The Kick-Off introduced kids to the 5 for Life curriculum including how all of our students will become Heart Heroes! How? There are three ways!
- First – they learn about their hearts and how to keep them healthy. Just ask your kiddo to tell you all about each the lifesaver ducks health message or Click here to see the video!
- Second – by being Heart Healthy Messengers and sharing what they are learning in PE with the grown-ups in their lives.
- Third – by joining the fight against heart disease and stroke by collecting donations. Donations fund research for cures and prevention through community education. Raising donations is easier than ever online at www.heart.org/jump or by downloading the Jump/Hoops app and sending messages that include both a request for support and the warning signs for heart disease and stroke!
What is 5 For Life? Five ways kids can make healthy choices that protect their heart from disease! Eating fruits and veggies, never ever smoking, drinking lots of water, getting plenty of rest, watching for sneaky salt and, of course, staying really active! Each of the collectable Lifesaver ducks has his own message.
What’s up with the ducks? Students that begin fundraising, collect at least $5 (from the donation envelope or online) will get a lanyard and their very own Quacky Duck as soon as the next time they come to PE! If they go online or download the Jump/Hoops App and get their first online donation, they will also get the sneaky Scribbles Ninja duck! www.heart.org/jump to find our school, join the team and get started.
Thank you for helping our school support the American Heart Association!!!!! Donations are DUE March 28th!
Splatter Quacky LOVES fruits and veggies for his snack. Scribbles Ninja always stays in tip-top shape and never ever smokes!
